Job Overview Release of information clerk. Requires excellent communication, professional and courteous service with physicians using the hospital for the above procedures. Must have strong communication and multi-tasking skills and must be able to do basic math. Ability to identify the type of request and ensure the proper authorization is included to comply with state and federal laws. Receive and process all forms, request from insurance companies, and disability; identify the type of request and ensure proper authorization is included. Process all mail entering the department and forward as required. Post charges and payments for request for copied records. Coordinates with other departments and the copy service when needed regarding medical release. Copy medical record to a CD when requested. Process incoming phone calls promptly and politely and comply with request appropriately.
Education and Experience
Completion of High School or GED is required. Two to four years' experience in a physician's office, hospital registration, collection agency, hospital or professional billing or training at an educational institution that includes medical billing.
