What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Itinerant Teacher position at Deaf & Hard of Hearing Educational Solutions, Inc.?
The role involves maintaining an Itinerant caseload, K-12. As a DHH Itinerant teacher, you will be responsible for assessing students' needs, monitoring hearing technology, and providing instruction in areas such as, communication, auditory skills, language development and self-advocacy. Other responsibilities include developing IEPs, collaborating with staff and families, conducting assessments, assisting teachers in implementing student accommodation, and maintaining student records.
Job Description: Provide specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Assess students' communication and educational needs in collaboration with other school staff.
- Knowledge and ability to monitor use of amplification devices
- Ability to troubleshoot and train classroom staff on hearing technology
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Provide instruction to students in areas such as language development, self-advocacy skills, and auditory skill development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor students' progress
- Advocate for students' access to appropriate accommodations
- Attend IEP meetings and be prepared to report on a student's present level of performance and goal achievement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) may be required for some students.
