Job Title: Commercial Project Estimator
Department(s): Commercial Business Department
Reports to: Randy Williams, Lead Commercial Project Estimator
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not are limited to, the following:
A good relationship with customers to better communicate product details and potential downfalls of specific options and provide higher quality solutions and available substitutions; With the Project Coordinator throughout the project’s life, especially during the contracting phase regarding materials and project timelines.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. This is a relatively high stress job. Employee is expected to be pleasant and honest at all times. Employee is expected to sit for 6-7 hours per shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not are limited to, the following:
- To read, write, and otherwise communicate in a professional manner with staff and customers;
- To develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff and customers;
- To timely and accurately respond to RFQs;
- To obtain pricing for special order items;
- To obtain pricing for freight to jobsites;
- To propose efficient and cost-effective means of sourcing materials;
- To provide sound VE options to customers;
- To work closely with Production Coordinator regarding timelines, product information, etc.;
- To regularly follow-up on previously quoted jobs;
- To report weekly to Business Development Manager and Commercial Sales Lead regarding RFQs incoming and in-process and customer’s project schedules;
- To demonstrate product knowledge, building codes, commercial and residential millwork prep, VE options, product availability, project timelines, job types, freight options and pricing, and Microsoft Excel;
- To provide new customer data and other sales data for current customers to company database;
- To participate in inventory counts;
- To adhere to all company and safety policies, including wearing all required PPE;
- To wear proper work attire, including close-toed shoes and safety vests, at all times while moving about the warehouse;
- To report any company and safety policy violations, work-related injuries or incidents, and workplace discrimination to supervisor or Human Resources Department;
- To work normal operating hours, including overtime when necessary; and
- To perform any other duties required to complete assigned tasks.
- Education/Experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field of study, or 3 experience in commercial project estimating;
- Skills. An ability to read, write, and communicate professionally and with relevant construction documents; To add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; To read and interpret a measuring tape; To use reason and logic to carry out detailed written and oral instructions;

- Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations. All applicants must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Physical Demands.
- Employees are regularly required to: sit at desk for long periods of time, stand, walk, lift and move materials up to 25 lbs., and work and communicate effectively with customers and other employees.
- Employees are occasionally required to: climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend at the waist.
