Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Associate

SUMMARY: In the role of Shipping and Receiving Associate, you will be integral to the efficient operation of our distribution center. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, your primary responsibilities include overseeing shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, and maintaining inventory levels. Core skills in warehouse experience and order picking will be essential, while premium skills in forklift operation and warehouse management systems will enhance your effectiveness. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not are limited to, verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing goods for shipment by doing the following:

· To ensure the accuracy of goods received and goods promised with shipper’s papers, purchase orders, bills of lading, and freight bills;

· To unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and inform accounts payable of such so that AP can correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages;

· To locate and stock goods;

· To help deliver items to appropriate warehouses by putting all Special Order items in the designated space and immediately mark/tag each item that is special order;

· To operate forklift trucks or hand trucks to move, convey, and hoist shipments to designated areas in warehouse;

· To file daily receiving reports. All receiving reports must be filled out when each truck is unloaded. If unfeasible, reports must be filled out before the employee leaves for the day;

· To release to Inside Sales Department all tickets for special order items received that day. If items received are to be shipped that same day, special order tickets are to be given to the loading dock personnel – even if this means that the employee clocks the ticket himself;

· To determine method of shipment;

· To keep records related to who is responsible for payment for outgoing freight charges;

· To affix shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information on cartons;

· To assist with finding back-ordered items.

· To read, write, and communicate in a professional manner;

· To interpret and enforce safety and company policies;

· To recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product;

· To suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department;

· To notify supervisor of all defective materials and damage as soon as it occurs;

· To adhere to all company and safety policies, including wearing all required PPE;

· To wear proper work attire, including close-toed shoes, safety vests, and gloves at all times while moving about the warehouse;

· To report any company and safety policy violations, work-related injuries or incidents, and workplace discrimination to supervisor or Human Resources Department;

· To work normal operating hours, including overtime when necessary; and

· To perform any other duties required to complete assigned tasks.

· Education/Experience. Less than a high school education, or six (6) months of related training or experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

· Skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate professionals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and interpret a measuring tape. Ability to use reason and logic to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.

· Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations. All applicants must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

· Physical Demands. Employees are regularly required to do the following for:

o Employees are regularly required to: stand, walk, use hand and power tools, lift and move materials between 5 and 50 lbs., and work and communicate effectively with other employees.

o Employees are occasionally required to: climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or bend at the waist, lift and move materials up to 100 lbs.

o Required specific vision abilities include: close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
