What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floor Manager position at Dear Margaret?
Dear Margaret is expanding our service crew by welcoming a Floor Manager into our fold!
The ideal candidate has at least one year management experience (bonus if at a seasonally driven, busy neighborhood restaurant). This person manages confidently while melding seamlessly with our FOH—a tight-knit, Jean Banchet Award-winning hospitality team who has a collective crush on our ever-changing menu and a dedication to effusive service that welcomes guests in like close friends at a dinner party. The floor manager directly supports the owner (who has been acting floor manager) and works closely with the executive chef, sous chef, and wine director.
The floor manager should have attributes such as:
- Extensive food and beverage knowledge
- An understanding of a wide range of ingredients, wines, etc.
- An eagerness to regularly taste new things
- If already a fan of what we do at DM, that’s a major plus!
- A service style that’s warm, accommodating, and relaxed, with enthusiastic table rapport
- Exemplary communication skills and a knack for problem-solving
- Grace under pressure to handle any service issues in the moment
- A wiz at reservations management and table optimization (Tock)
- Basic computer/POS skills (e.g., updating menus for the dining room, website, and Toast)
- Readiness to fill in as needed to make FOH operations as smooth as possible
This full-time position earns $25/hour, health insurance after 60 days employment, 401k eligibility with up to 4% match after 6 months. Food handler’s and BASSET certifications required; food manager certificate a plus. Must be available to work Wednesday-Sunday from 3:30pm until end of service.
