JOB POSTING FOR CAMP DIRECTOR - DEBATE CAMP
In 2025, Debate Camp is expanding its Camp Director team. We are seeking Camp Director candidates in Boston who will be responsible for the site coordination for a series (one and/or a combination of) of week-long day camps operating in Boston.
Details specific to each are available at: https://www.debatecamp.com/boston
Estimated start date: 6/16/2025
Estimated end date: 7/25/2025
Our Camp Directors oversee the implementation of the academic program and daily camp operations. They liaise directly with site location personnel and oversee a team of program leaders, camp staff and interns. The Camp Director is ultimately responsible for the operation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming camp experience for all campers and camper parents. Debate Camps throughout the US Northeast are accredited by the American Camping Association and comply with the highest available standards for the safe operation of recreational camps for youth. Related operating standards are available at: https://www.debatecamp.com/accreditation
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. They will have experience in teaching and learning strategies for youth aged 11 – 16. The position does not require the successful candidate to have a background in competitive debate, but rather a degree of ability as a classroom educator, a natural manager of groups, teams and an ability to build relationships well with all of the camp’s stakeholders; parents, campers and partner-school community members.
The successful candidate will be able to enrich and support our staff experience, with particular reference to the teaching and learning modules we review with our whole team ahead of the summer. Full details on this pre-camp component are available at: https://www.teacher.camp/
The ideal candidate will have a degree in education and/or related professional certification as well as 1-3 years of classroom teaching experience. A background in summer camps, day and/or overnight is an asset.
Qualified and interested candidates are invited to send a cover letter and resume addressed to: Nick Szymanis, Founding Director via the Camp Director application form available here:
