What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production & Machine Shop Manager position at DeBellis Catherine & Morreale - Corporate Staffing?
I am a recruiter with a 70 year old dynamic manufacturing company with 90 employees in the Buffalo, NY area who designs and manufactures electro-mechanical devices sold worldwide. They are searching for an experienced Machine Shop Manager who can take on the additional responsibility of the Production Floor.
You will direct and coordinate the activities of 6 CNC machinists, 2 Utility personnel, 1 painter, 10 production & mechanical assemblers and 1 in shipping/receiving. This person will have the authority to improve flow and efficiency in the existing manufacturing areas. Additionally, this individual will be selecting and implementing new machine centers as well as designing new fixtures, and modifying existing fixtures, to reduce set-up time.
This individual is also responsible for writing and modifying CNC programs to improve efficiency and the implementation of 5s and Lean initiatives.
CNC Machines: Okuma lathe with live tooling, Hardinge lathe, Puma Lathe, Hardinge Mill, Okuma Mill, Okuma Horizontal Mill (3 axis).
Machine Shop – Drill Press, Punch press, Grinder, Key Seater, Manual lathe, Automatic Saw, Misc. Machine Shop Equipment.

Skills: We are looking for someone with strong Supervisory skills (interpersonal) in a manufacturing company, Strong Mechanical and CNC machining background. Someone willing to work closely with people in a collaborative style of management. Familiar with Solidworks. Willing to be a hands-on Supervisor when needed.
