Job Summary
Under limited supervision, this person is responsible for assisting the House Manager with the overall management of the Group Home ensuring that programs are implemented properly to meet the individual goals of residents.
Roles and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
- Assist with the coordination of all aspects of life in the group home.
- Assist with ensuring that the residents complete daily personal care routines.
- Assist with reviewing the medical needs of residents and scheduling appointments with medical providers.
- Assist with monitoring food preparation to ensure that meals are properly prepared in accordance with established standards.
- Assist with ordering food and other supplies as needed on a regular basis.
- Assist with monitoring visitations.
- Attend scheduled meetings (e.g., PCPs, BSPs, etc.)
- Assist with the implementation of behavior programs.
- Assist with the responsibilities for the overall administration of resident programs, which are planned and implemented to meet individual needs and goals of individuals in the areas of speech/communication, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and recreational/leisure.
- Assist with employee evaluations.
- Assist with directing and supervising all activities of direct care staff.
- Assist with scheduling staff training sessions and conducting staff meetings regularly.
- Assist with coordinating activities of both staff and individuals.
- Assist with maintaining and reconciling individuals’ cash/funds accurately.
- Communicate and interface with various groups and individuals (e.g. supervisor, subordinates, physicians, nurses, consultants, neighbors, residents, families of residents, etc.).
- Assist with management of individual records and ensure that documentation by staff is correct and meets guidelines.
- Receive, review, process, file and submit a variety of documents and reports (e.g., personnel information, visitation/contact sheets, goals, progress notes, daily data collection sheets, etc.).
- Able to be on-call (via phone) 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to assist staff with emergency situations.
- Oversee overall cleanliness of facility and environment.
- Assist with ensuring that medication-certified personnel are always present.
- Abide by, enforce, and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all DebRick Group safety standards and regulations
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with three to five years of experience working with adults with intellectual/ developmental disabilities in a residential setting required. Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Physical Requirements - Must be able to operate equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers). Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are more than sedentary work; position requires cooking, cleaning, bathing, feeding, walking, lifting, etc.
- Computer Skills - Must have basic word processing (MS Word) and email usage skills.
- Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Qualifications - Must be at least 18 years of age; Driver's License (required); Medication Assistant Certification (preferred); CPR/First aid certification (preferred); CNA (preferred); Must be able to pass a background check, tuberculosis skin test, and drug test upon acceptance of position.
