What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at DECA Dental Group?
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for aspects of the general accounting of Deca Dental Holdings and its consolidating entities. The position will be responsible for preparation and review of financial statements, while also participating in the accounting month-end close process for over 150 entities. This position will report directly to the Director of Accounting at Deca Dental Holdings. As a result, this person is considered one of the key leaders of the accounting department with high visibility to the senior management team.
Responsibilities
- Perform full cycle accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations and month end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy and compliance with accounting guidelines while analyzing and explaining account fluctuation
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring timely month-end and year end close processes
- Maintain entity account entries and ensure accuracy in financial records
- Preparation of monthly financial and operational packages for distribution to operations leadership and senior leadership.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis
- Maintain processes to ensure that the Company’s system of internal controls remains strong.
- Assist in all aspects of the Company's external reporting of financial data, including regulatory bodies, state, and local government agencies
- Assist with preparing schedules for the annual and interim audit process
- Ad-hoc duties and responsibilities to support accounting functions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, CPA preferred but not required
- At least 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to communicate financial outcomes to non-financial individuals in the organization
- Familiarity with ESRP Systems (MS Dynamics a plus)
- Significant experience with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s and other related formulas
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Must be adaptable, open to change and excel in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- Self-Motivated, good interpersonal skills, responsible, organized, and a team player
- Must be willing and able to work on site in our Dallas, TX based office 4 days per week.
