Veterinary Technician
Decatur Animal Care is a thriving small animal practice in Decatur, Alabama seeking to fill a full-time LVT or experienced veterinary assistant position. Decatur is a wonderful, family friendly city located along the Tennessee River in North Alabama. It is one hour north of Birmingham and conveniently close to Huntsville, Alabama. Decatur Animal Care is a 2 doctor practice that strives to practice quality veterinary care and medicine through in-house lab work, digital x-rays, dentistry, laser therapy and ultrasound.
Position requirements consists of, but not limited to:
- Proficient computer skills, to include Avimark veterinary software.
- Proficient use of Idexx in-house laboratory equipment.
- Able to perform ultrasonic scaling and polishing of teeth as well as, being familiar with dental radiography.
- Surgical anesthesia monitoring.
- Friendly and professional communication skills in person and on the phone.
- Physically able to stand, lift, and bend throughout the shift.
- Mental capacity to use good professional and compassionate judgement.
- Other duties that are normally performed by an LVT or experienced veterinary assistant such as history taking, restraining of an animal for examination, venipuncture, administering medications orally and via injection.
