Job Title: Sports Coordinator
Supervisor: Youth Development Director
Salary: $13-$16/ hr. 10-20 hrs/week
General Function
Under the supervision of the Youth Development Director to execute and coordinate operations of the Youth Sports Leagues/Camps, and Youth Classes. To fill in for referees and coaches when needed. To help supervise program staff and volunteers, and must be willing to work weekday evenings and weekends.
Know How:

- Sports knowledge and ability to officiate youth league games
- Maintain harmonious relationships between staff and participants.
- Experience in Physcal Eduaction/Sports or related field
Responsibilities:
- Know and follow the YMCA mission statement. “To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.”
- Know and model the four Core Values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Extend courtesy and respect to all members and guests of the YMCA.
- To complete YMCA orientation and CPR/first aid training within 90 days of employment.
- Maintain a positive attitude about the YMCA both on and off premises
Job Segments:
- Coordinate leagues, clinics and classes and ensure program effectiveness.
- Properly set-up, clean up and maintain all equipment.
- Supervise children during games/activities to ensure they are played in a safe manner.
- Help to establish clear behavior expectations for all program participants and ensure that they are followed throughout the program
- Act as YMCA Liaison for rentals and parties
- Help develop, plan, promote, and administer Youth League and Class activities
- Execute recreational activities as organized by the Program Director
- Supervise and lead a group during the 21st Century Program
- Teach rules and strategies of the game/activity to coaches.
- Discipline children/ or coaches, when necessary and in an appropriate manner, using positive verbal reinforcement.
- Be enthusiastic and confident when interacting with parents and kids.
- Be appropriately dressed; always wear your YMCA staff uniform and appropriate footwear.
- Keep Youth & Sports Director informed of all first aid concerns, discipline or other significant problems.
- Record and report all incidents to the Youth & Sports Director immediately.
- Perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by the Youth and Sports Director.
- Attend all required staff meetings and training as necessary and assigned.
- As an Ambassador for the Y, communicates to members, volunteers, and the general public that the Y is the nation’s leading non-profit committed to strengthening the community through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
- Accept additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate in order to help the YMCA accomplish its mission / tasks assigned by the Program Director

Minimal Requirements:
- Ability to move up and down the playing field/court during games with the children so that the correct calls may be made by:
- Keeping up with players
- Blowing whistle
- Communicating over noise surrounding game
- Ability to speak over the phone.
- Ability to do CPR and other basic first aid procedures.
- Ability to write.
- Ability to set-up and take down program equipment.
- Ability to lay lines on sports field before games.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
