Summary:

Performs armed security-related duties which include, but are not limited to investigating disturbances on hospital premises; monitoring the Emergency Department and Main Lobby areas (primarily) for entrances and departures of patients, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of hospital premises; performing periodic floor patrols within the hospital building(s); writing reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences; warning persons of rule infractions or violations and apprehending or evicting violators from premises, using force when the officer reasonably believes that force is necessary; and performing other duties as assigned. The Security Officer may be required to effect arrests, subdue resisting individuals, or force entry into rooms/buildings.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

High School Diploma required.

Experience
-
Current status as an active duty or reserve law enforcement officer with authority to issue citations and perform arrest functions required.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.

Certificates & Licenses

Must have documentation of training on Weapons from the ILEA.

Possesses a working knowledge of law enforcement theories, methods and procedures as well as laws and procedure of search and seizure, arrest, evidence, and crime scene protection
