Summary:

The Transitional Nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a Board-approved or accredited nursing program waiting to take the NCLEX exam. After graduation they are eligible to remain or become a transitional nurse as long as they are qualified to take the Board exam. Nursing students in their final semester of nursing school, near graduation, may apply for any posted nursing position and be hired as a transitional nurse, pending licensure. After receiving licensure, transitional nurses will be moved into their nursing role. Transitional nurses must perform duties within their scope and level of licensure independently; otherwise must have licensed personnel with them.

Must be able to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays. Must have the ability to float to other nursing units.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

A graduate nurse or nursing student in their final semester at an accredited school of nursing.

Experience

A graduate nurse or nursing student in their final semester of an accredited nursing school.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.

BLS certification

Proof of enrollment at an accredited school of nursing.

Other Requirements

Ability to multitask in a high stress environment. This position requires frequent standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, lifting and carrying 0-100 lbs and pushing and pulling 0-100 lbs.
