JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title Resident Care Director
Direct Report Executive Director
Position Responsibility:
1. Plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing/personal care and functions in in accordance with established Decatur House philosophy, standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Responsible for ensuring proper orientation, training, ongoing mandatory training and general management of personnel.
3. Participates in scheduled on-call nursing coverage to ensure Decatur House maintains 24/7 nursing coverage.
4. Responsible for training personal care assistants with SAMM’s and skill checks.
5. Relates effectively with all care staff, families, outside care and medical services for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments; participates in all phases of employee education and training, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, QA QI reporting, and skills of personnel.
6. Maintain positive and robust relations with outside health and medical organizations.
7. Provides the best possible care by planning, organizing, and directing the care services of residents at Decatur House.
8. Visits residents and prospective residents at home or medical facilities to perform admission/re-admission assessments.
9. Uses approved state and/or community admission tools as part of assessment process.
10. Establishes implements and updates assessment and resident care plans (ISP) routinely and as needed.
11. Directs staff assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
12. Maintains acceptable standards of resident care.
13. Provides feedback and recommendations to the dining services department regarding nutritional requirements, resident likes and dislikes and overall resident satisfaction.
14. Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution.
15. Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
16. Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
17. Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting, including EOEA.
18. Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand.
19. Participates in planning changes and improvements.
20. Participates in community emergency and safety programs.
21. Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
22. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
23. Keeps Executive Director informed of residents needs and issues
24. Oversees the orientation and in-service training for personnel.
25. Evaluates the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action including write-ups and termination.
26. Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
27. Oversees and assists in QI QA reporting
28. Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality and HIPPA regulations.
29. Observes and supports community policies and procedures.
30. Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences and overtime.
31. Cooperates and maintains good rapport with care staff, families, other departments, and visitors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to learn and adapt.
2. Ability to direct others.
3. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
4. Able to use occupied wheelchairs with weights up to 200 pounds.
5. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
6. Must be team player
Education and Experience:
· Registered nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with valid license.
· Minimum 5 years management or equivalent experience.
· Experience in caring for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias are encouraged but not essential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
