Job Description Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW : This is a part-time position. . This position is responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating activities for after-school programs. The individual in this position will need to possess a background in social services and or have two or more years’ experience working with children in schools, afterschool programs, and / or camps. This work is performed under general supervision.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The statements contained here reflect general details as necessary to describe the principal functions of this job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required and the scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload. The functions listed are also examples of duties that may be required and in no way imply a contractual agreement between the employer and employee or affect the at-will relationship between the parties.1. Assists with Supervising children in groups and individually.2. Assists with the planning and implementation of structured activities and programs.3. Assists with Maintains inventory of indoor / outdoor games, supplies and equipment.4. Assists in the Travels with youth on field trips and escorting after school participants to various activity locations within the program.5. Works weekends as needed.6. Assists and Works closely with youth and their families and offers support when needed.7. Maintains current records of participants, i.e., name, address, phone number, emergency medical forms, field trip permission forms, etc.8. Counsel’s youth in the area of behavior, attitude, or other problems when they arise.9. Assists with Recruits’ youth for the after-school homework assistance program and other activities.10. Assists with Providing youth with positive alternatives to drug activity.11. Assists and support with children in a wide range of recreational and educational activities (i.e. homework help, tutoring, sports, table games, arts and crafts, computer room activities, etc.).12. Dropping off and picking up children from nearby schools, as needed.13. Assists with Helping children to cope with daily social interaction.14. Assists with Helping children to learn appropriate social behaviors.15. Support with Mediating conflicts presented by children.16. Assists with Maintaining daily attendance with tutors.17. Assists with Dismissing children from the program, ensuring they leave with parent and / or guardian.18. Assisting the Resident Services Coordinator and Resident Services Supervisor with office tasks related to running the program.19. Attends work with regularity and punctually and recognizes that attendance is an essential duty and responsibility of this position.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES : 1. Assists the Resident Services Coordinator with various after school activities.2. Makes sure the equipment is in working order and reports any damaged or broken equipment.3. Assists with Prepares and serves nutritional snacks during activities.4. Works cooperatively with Authority staff and others in the planning of activities.5. Report the property manager if the Community Center is clean and orderly after each activity.6. Makes appropriate referrals to other Authority staff when needed.7. Assists with making sure materials, supplies, food, etc. when needed.8. Assists with all program activities.9. Assists with the supervision and discipline of the youth.10. Knowledge of planning, organizing, and implementation of programs and activities for children and youth.2. Ability to work with low-income, high-risk youth in a positive manner.3. Ability to be tactful, courteous, and discrete.4. Ability to communicate effectively with youth and parents.5. Ability to achieve a rapport with youth and their families.6. Ability to work with limited direct supervision.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : 1. Graduation from an accredited high school.2. At least two years of direct experience in a field related to this position.3. Experience working with disadvantaged youth would be desirable.4. Any equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : This position is required to work in an office setting and school type setting that is generally accessible to the mobility and sensory impaired. The incumbent must have the ability to utilize standard office equipment and access files and documents. The incumbent must have the ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Must be able to work while seated or standing for extended periods of time.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : 1. Must be bondable.2. Possession of a valid State of Georgia Driver’s Licenses and also the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license.3.
