Job Overview:
The Materials Technician plays a vital role in the repair and maintenance process of electric motors by ensuring proper sourcing, handling, organization, and tracking of materials. This position supports the repair team by identifying critical components to source while maintaining an efficient inventory system, ensuring quality control of incoming and outgoing materials, and facilitating smooth workflow for motor repair projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Identification and Sourcing of Materials
- Work with repair technicians to properly identify parts required for the repair and remanufacturing processes.
- Source and manage all parts and supplies required for the operation.
- Manage vendor relationships, including quality and service requirements.
Materials Handling and Organization
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, parts, and components for quality and accuracy.
- Properly store materials and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Prepare parts and materials for electric motor repair processes, including cleaning, labeling, and staging
Inventory Management
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of repair parts, tools, and consumables.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies in inventory records.
- Place orders for parts and materials as needed to avoid delays in repair processes.
Documentation and Recordkeeping
- Track materials used in each repair project to ensure accurate job costing.
- Maintain detailed logs of material transactions, including usage, orders, and deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards for materials handling.
Support for Repair Team
- Assist technicians with preparing materials and components for repairs.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to repair stations to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot material-related issues during repairs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Experience in materials procurement, inventory management, or a related role, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of power transmission parts along with various electric motor parts, components, and repair processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and basic computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
