Opportunity Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior WAN Engineer for a W2 contract opportunity in Dearborn, MI. This role has the potential to extend over multiple years, with the chance to transition to a direct hire position with our client. Position Description

The team defines the Client's Global Wide Area Network Connectivity Solutions that ensures required communications and data is highly available and reliably exchanged. The team facilitates the support of the WAN planning team for strategic initiatives and Network Operations team on WAN technologies of software and hardware. The team performs the evaluation, lab testing, and validation of existing and emerging technologies on WAN technology applications, capacity, lifecycle to establish defined operational standards.

Responsibilities include consulting, engineering, establishing, and delivering standard WAN solutions for high-quality, secure WAN network solutions that enable communication between the Client's networks and the rest of the world. You will engage internal and possible external customers to provide technical WAN engineering services to ensure the continued and uninterrupted operation of the business. You will collaborate across the Global WAN Engineering and WAN fulfillment/Planning organization and with key work partners throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Work within the Dearborn MI located WAN lab certifying and testing operating systems, and hardware.
• Execute the evaluation, testing, and validation of existing and emerging technologies on WAN technology applications, capacity testing, platform sizing, including lifecycle to establish defined operational standards.
• Perform security CVE reviews against certified software.
• Cable various platforms and media together, load and test IOS, backup restore platforms, upgrade/downgrade OS.
• Perform traffic generations and analysis to complete the testing and certification in both autonomous mode and SDWAN.
• Generate reports, documentation, and runbooks for knowledge transfer.
• Assist with engineering and support various optical transport and convergence systems.

Skills Required

• Experience and knowledge of WAN/LAN Technologies, SD-WAN, IPsec, QOS, VoIP, OSPF, LDAP, SMTP, Proxy servers, Load-Balancers and network security protocols, VPN design, IPSEC, MPLS, GRE tunnels, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP with a deep understanding of BGP protocol and peering.
• Experience with and application of various Cisco Platforms CAT9500, CAT9600 series, C8500 series, C8300 series, ASR1100 series, ASR1000 series, ISR 1100 series.
• Skilled communicator able to operate autonomously and independently, when necessary, collaborate in a group setting.
• Understanding of Cloud technologies Google Cloud Platform, AWS.
• Experience and knowledge of routers and switches installation, cabling, loading OS, configuration, testing, and the development with reporting of various testing scenarios that lead to global production applications.
• Experienced and knowledgeable with physical cabling media & connectivity methods Ethernet, Fiber/Optical, LAB environment testing methodologies.
• Experienced and knowledge with performance monitoring tools, packet captures and analysis.
• Understanding of various circuit types EPL & DIA.
• Experienced and knowledge - event management- critical examination with MOP, Bug scrub and CVE/PSIRT.
• Understanding operational process and support tools, ticketing processes.
• Testing ability on various user platforms and OS (Apple, MS, Linux).

Skills Preferred

• Automation and programming development a plus.
• Experience with general DWDM principles, optical switching, optical expressing, transponders, optical patch panels, ROADM technologies.
• General knowledge on NSPs, ISPs, carriers, and cloud services.
• Experienced and knowledge with virtualization and monitoring tools such as Splunk, SevOne, LogScale, Data insights, Cacti, WhatsUpGold.
• API development and integration.
• IPv4, IPv6, Cellular (4G 5G), performing hardware and software evaluation based on WAN technologies - application, capacity, life-cycle management that standardize connectivity options, various failover & high availability designs.
• Can create development or validate operational materials and runbooks.
• Experienced and knowledge with a wide range of IP infrastructure applications, e.g. DNS, SMTP, NTP, IMAP, RADIUS, FTP.
• Understanding of security tools such as Client, Cisco Umbrella.

Experience Required

• 5 years of experience implementing, operating, and troubleshooting TCP/IP and Ethernet-based networks, including knowledge of IP protocols, routing, and switching.
• 5 years working with Cisco networking hardware including routers and switches.
• 5 years experience with Cisco WAN and SDWAN.
• 5 years experience with Network management in a large organization, and SaaS, Cloud-based networking.
• 3 years experience configuring and implementing BGP, GRE, IPSec VPN solutions.
• 3 years experience configuring and implementing Cisco ISA, ASA, Catalyst hardware and associated operating system.
• Certification in CCNA, CCNP, PMP, CCDP.

Experience Preferred

• Experienced and knowledge of Prisma Remote Access and Global protect.
• Experienced and knowledge of Thousand eyes - Cloud ramps.

Education Required

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Computer Engineering or similar programs.

Additional Information

• Candidate must be able to physically report to buildings in Dearborn MI as needed and work in the building 6 LAB as required. Following corporate attendance policy.
