The Opportunity
The Technical Expert, Global Pain Therapy reports to the Senior Vice President, within our new global marketing and technical excellence function. As the Technical Expert, you will be the global subject matter expert, providing deep technical insights and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders, industry bodies, research institutions, and regulatory agencies, ensuring that expertise is at the forefront of the category.
This role is required to have depth of credible knowledge and expertise to ensure that you are the primary technical authority within the category, ensuring scientific rigor, connecting the business to key opinion leaders (KOLs) and driving innovation to accelerate growth.
So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
- Monitoring and interpreting scientific and industry trends, translating them into actionable business insights. Lead publication strategy of medical research, technical insights, and articles.
- Providing technical input and Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) feedback to lifecycle management and product design
- Developing data generation plans (Phase III, Phase IV, Outcomes Research).
- Communicating global priorities to regional / local technical experts and enhance capability by developing and sharing training materials to facilitate and anticipate areas of knowledge required to drive sales and effective category use to the veterinary professionals
- Collaborating with R&D, marketing, and commercial teams to define the technical strategy for the category and shape the long-term portfolio roadmap.
- Identifying and evaluating emerging scientific advancements and technologies that can enhance the product portfolio and provide a competitive edge.
- Providing technical due diligence for potential business development opportunities, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Leading the development of technical messaging, claims, and positioning for new product launches in collaboration with marketing teams embodying the KOL’s feedback into the launch planning process to accelerate acceptance of market position of product.
- Designing global technical training and guidance for technical and commercial teams, ensuring alignment on product differentiation and value proposition.
- Partnering with regulatory teams to navigate technical requirements and optimize product approvals across key markets.
- Speaking at global and regional scientific and industry events, representing the company’s technical leadership in the category.

- Advanced degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Microbiology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
- Experience in a technical, scientific, or R&D role within animal health.
- Global experience in business development or commercial strategy within animal health, pharmaceuticals or life sciences,
- Experience collaborating with commercial, marketing, regulatory teams, research institutions and regulatory bodies in a global setting.
- Strong understanding of global market dynamics, industry regulations, and competitive landscapes within the category.
- Deep understanding of the global animal health market including key therapeutic areas and regulatory frameworks and global commercial dynamics
- Ability to travel as required.

The salary range detailed above is based on the role being based at a Dechra location in the United States. If this role is based outside the USA, we offer competitive pay, based on local market conditions, cost of living, and role-specific factors, ensuring fairness across all geographies.
