What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workforce Program Manager position at Decide DeKalb Development Authority?
The Workforce Program Manager will work with companies within DeKalb County and its cities to ensure that Decide DeKalb’s target industries have access to a skilled workforce and talent pipelines needed to be successful. Target industries include back office, manufacturing, logistics/ distribution, and healthcare. Duties will include creating and implementing programs to support workforce development efforts, building relationships with business communities and business organizations, engaging partners such as Georgia Piedmont Technical College, WorkSource DeKalb, and training providers (e.g. Goodwill of North Georgia) to execute on Decide DeKalb’s vision of creating prosperous communities with opportunities for all. The ideal candidate has 5 years of experience developing and executing workforce development programs, whether through federal, state, local or private sector funding. Experience with adult education, reskilling and upskilling, and programs targeting underemployment are preferred. Experience with workforce development programs for immigrants and refugees is ideal but not required. This position reports to the Director of Economic Development.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Work closely with Decide DeKalb’s local partners, non-profits, and training providers to deliver workforce programs based on needs identified through relationships with the target industry community
• Promote and market DeKalb’s workforce to attract new jobs and retain existing businesses, and elevate the visibility of Decide DeKalb
• Serve as a lead point of contact for DeKalb businesses in target industries looking to recruit and hire local workforce
• Identify additional opportunities for partnerships with statewide organizations such as GA Department of Education, Technical College System of Georgia, and GA Centers of Innovation to expand workforce programming
• Manage Decide DeKalb’s quarterly Manufacturing and Logistics Industry Roundtable, which brings together DeKalb’s business, training providers, CTAE and GPTC leadership to identify and address gaps in career-readiness for new graduates
• Manage existing workforce initiatives and programs such as MADE in DeKalb, a fellowship for DeKalb County School District educators and staff to interact directly with DeKalb manufacturing and logistics employers and learn how to educate students about career opportunities in these key industries
• Identify companies within DeKalb’s business community that will collaborate on programs for underserved populations, such as the underemployed, justice-impacted individuals, refugees and immigrants, and others with barriers to employment (e.g. lack of transportation)
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel: 15-20% travel within DeKalb County, as well as occasional travel within metro Atlanta
Qualifications & skills:
• Bachelor’s degree required, major or minor in Management, Workforce Education, Education Psychology, or Human Resources preferred
• 5 years experience in economic development or workforce development; relevant Master’s degree may substitute 2 year’s experience

• Organized and detail-oriented

The salary range for this position is $66,000-$74,000
