Smile Brands is one of the largest providers of dental support services in the United States. We are seeking an Insurance Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for managing outstanding insurance claims and denials to reduce accounts receivable, minimize bad debt, and maximize collections. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy in practice management systems by maintaining insurance plan records and processing payments and adjustments.

- Generate and review outstanding insurance claims reports for assigned offices on a monthly basis.
- Investigate unpaid claims by contacting insurance companies and utilizing online portals when available.
- Resubmit claims with required documentation and follow up to resolve issues preventing payment.
- Accurately document all interactions with insurance company and claim status updates in patient accounts.
- Maintain action lists for office teams regarding patient or clinical follow-ups.
- Assist offices with Explanation of Benefits (EOB) troubleshooting, reviewing claims and amount paid/not paid.
- Assist offices to compare fee schedule and treatment plan to verify if adjustment is necessary and accurate.
- Compare fee schedules and treatment plans to verify and apply necessary adjustments.
- Report credentialing and fee schedule changes to the team for review.
- Understand and help with patient account audits
- Support the entry of insurance payments and adjustments.
- 1-2 years of experience in dental or medical billing / insurance claims processing.
- Strong understanding of insurance claim workflows and accounts receivable management.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Proficiency in computer systems and practice management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
