Job Title : Footwear and Apparel Performance Engineer
Reports to : Deckers VP, Innovation
Location : Goleta, CA or Portland, OR
The Role
The Deckers Innovation Footwear and Apparel Performance Engineer will develop test methods and coordinate and analyze tests focused on human subject perception of Deckers footwear and apparel. This person will quantify the qualitative, using a sensory science approach to attributes like fit, comfort, feel, cushioning, breathability, and more. Methods will be developed for Fit, Wear, Field, and R&D testing. Analysis and recommendations will be shared with the product teams for science-based product improvement. Questionnaires will be developed to be applicable for Deckers Innovation projects, and usability across all Deckers brands. Additionally, the Footwear and Apparel Performance Engineer will also assist in creating an internal product perception database across all brands for searchability and data security.

Your Impact
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to :
- 1. Develop tools to streamline Sensory Perception Testing of Deckers Footwear and Apparel
- 2. Manage key steps of the innovation product testing process, from test plan definition stage, to test execution and communication within the innovation and product creation teams.
- 3. Use Sensory Science to Analyze Fit, Wear, and Performance Results throughout the footwear and apparel R&D cycles.
- 4. Help create a searchable database to store perception testing data from throughout the organization.

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
