Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Traveling Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our clinical team. The PMHNP will play a vital role in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions within our residential facility.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients upon admission and throughout treatment to formulate individualized care plans.
- Diagnose mental health disorders, including substance use disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and others, using the DSM-5 criteria.
- Develop and oversee medication management plans, including prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to provide holistic care, integrating medical, behavioral, and therapeutic interventions.
- Offer psychoeducation and counseling to patients and families on treatment options, medication management, and recovery strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization as needed, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and case conferences to review patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in psychiatric/mental health.
- Current PMHNP certification and state licensure in Ohio.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a PMHNP, preferably in addiction treatment or behavioral health settings.
- Comprehensive understanding of psychopharmacology and evidence-based practices for mental health and substance use disorders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and proficient computer skills.
