What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscaping Foreman position at DeCook Excavating?
Foreman at DeCook Landscaping is responsible for overseeing landscape installation, maintenance, and project completion. This role involves managing a crew, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to high-quality standards, and maintaining equipment and safety protocols. This is a full-time seasonal position.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of landscapers in daily tasks
- Read and interpret landscape blueprints, plans, and project specifications
- Coordinate the installation of softscape (plants, sod, trees) and hardscape (pavers, retaining walls, irrigation systems)
- Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies
- Monitor project progress, quality, and adherence to deadlines.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and management regarding project updates
- Train and mentor crew members to improve efficiency and skill level
- Handle materials ordering and inventory management
- Troubleshoot and resolve any on-site issues that arise
- Track and record all job expenses and hours worked accurately for each job
Requirements:
- 4 years of landscape experience, with leadership and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiar with landscape construction, plant care, irrigation systems, and equipment operation
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license & CDL
Physical Demands:
- Work with hand tools, power tools, small engine and heavy equipment
- Lift a minimum of 50lbs repeatedly through an entire work shift
- Work in a fast-paced work environment
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions performing manual labor
- Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work and overnight as needed for snow removal
