Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and physiology, along with experience in providing medical administrative support within a clinical or hospital setting. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of patient care and administrative tasks, particularly in environments such as the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and emergency medicine.
Duties
- Assist healthcare professionals in patient examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, ensuring compliance with medical standards.
- Provide medical administrative support including scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling insurance verification.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care plans and instructions for follow-up.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to assist in the interpretation of physician orders and treatment plans.
- Support emergency medicine procedures as needed, demonstrating proficiency in basic life support techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care quality within the clinic or hospital setting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role within a clinical or hospital environment.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, and hospital medicine practices.
- Familiarity with medical systems and electronic health record (EHR) management.
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) techniques effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient interaction and education.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in both clinical and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or PICU settings.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is preferred but not required.
