The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims to insurance companies. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while providing support to our patients and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-9 and other relevant coding systems.
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Review patient records and documentation for completeness and accuracy before billing.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, conducting medical collections as necessary to resolve outstanding balances.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding standards, and insurance policies.
- Call patients with overdue balances, correcting the issue tracker/denials.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related role within a medical office setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding.
- Proficient in using medical billing software and systems for efficient processing of claims.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills to identify errors or discrepancies in billing processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare staff regarding billing inquiries.
- Knowledge of medical collection practices is a plus but not required.
