Role Description
Our innovation and value-driven organization is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Principal Scientist to join our rapidly growing team. This position requires broad technical experience in medicinal chemistry and a strong emphasis on an industrial mindset underpinned by critical thinking, multitasking, and the ability to propose new approaches and ideas. This position will focus on collaborating with project leads, deep learning scientists and computational chemists to develop new potential therapies for unmet medical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrated expert in synthetic organic chemistry with the ability to diagnose problematic reaction sequences for target molecules.
- Demonstrated ability to recognized ADME liabilities with target molecules.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage physiochemical design principles to develop orally bioavailable inhibitors.
- Demonstrated ability to creatively use structure and/or ligand-based drug design for increasing potency of lead molecules.
- Ability to work in a team first environment and contribute new target designs by incorporating feedback from computational chemistry support.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with 4-6 years of experience in medicinal chemistry and 1-2 years leading chemistry teams preferred.
- Experience in proposing synthetic routes for targets and problem solving externally provided routes.
- Experience with interacting with external chemistry vendors.
- Experience with GMP or GLP synthesis a plus.
- Attention to detail with rigorous scientific thinking and clear communication supported by appropriate documentation.
- The ability to present your work both verbally and in writing to non-technical audiences.
- Creative mindset with a willingness to propose new approaches and ideas.
