We have one veterinarian and a small office staff which creates an intimate atmosphere. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and a desire to provide exceptional care for our patients. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our team and ensuring the well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarian and veterinary technician during examinations and procedures.
- Provide care for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising.
- Handle and restrain pets safely during examinations or treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hospital, including sterilizing instruments and cleaning exam rooms.
- Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring they are properly groomed and ready for procedures.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarian or technician.
- Processing laboratory test and radiographs.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and wellness practices.
- Comfortable with medical software.
- Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and maintaining patient records.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively to communicate with the team and clients.
Requirements
- Previous experience in pet care or as a Veterinary Assistant is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry, animal anatomy, and veterinary terminology is highly desirable.
- Strong dog and cat handling skills and the ability to work with various animal breeds and temperaments.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members effectively.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
