The Physical Education Teacher reports to the Assistant Principal of Instruction and collaborates with the school team to create a positive and adaptive learning environment.

Responsibilities & Duties
Deliver Engaging Instruction:
- Plan and teach daily physical education lessons aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to promote physical activity, coordination, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
- Foster students' enjoyment of movement, exercise, and lifelong fitness through age-appropriate activities.
Support Student Growth and Achievement:
- Assess and monitor student progress in physical fitness, motor skills, and collaborative behaviors.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the physical and developmental needs of all learners, including students with disabilities or requiring additional challenges.
- Celebrate student growth and promote perseverance, resilience, and healthy habits.
Create a Positive Classroom Culture:
- Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured environment in physical education settings that reflect the school's core values.
- Use proactive and effective classroom management strategies to ensure respectful and engaged participation.
- Model a growth mindset and promote self-confidence, teamwork, and mutual respect.
Collaborate and Communicate:
- Work closely with colleagues, families, and support staff to support the physical and emotional well-being of every student.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and transitions as needed.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, events, and service-learning projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the school's mission.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Health, Kinesiology, or a related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Health and Physical Education (or eligibility for certification) preferred.
- At least one year of teaching experience preferred, with demonstrated success in student engagement and physical instruction.
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and best practices in physical education.
