The Excavation Support person is a laborer who performs a variety of manual tasks outdoors in all weather conditions; including digging, laying conduit, helping with machinery, etc. This is all done while working in a safe and effective manner.
Deeply Digital's outside plant focuses primarily on placing underground and aerial fiber for telecommunications. Its services include line, coaxial, and optical fiber cable placement, splicing, and home installation.

Description:
We are seeking a dependable, hard-working Underground Fiber Placement Technician to join our traveling team. This position involves manual labor, operating and maintaining equipment, and working in a variety of outdoor environments. The ideal candidate will be flexible, self-motivated, and comfortable with travel and physically demanding tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform underground fiber installation duties including pulling, digging, and setting boxes.
- Haul trailers of various sizes safely and confidently.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as blowers, air compressors, and spool trailers.
- Use GIS/mapping systems, planner tools, and related technologies to complete work accurately.
- Properly maintain tools and equipment assigned to your care.
- Operate or learn to use subsite utility locators.
- Adapt to all weather conditions and job site environments.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to travel and work a 7-on/7-off schedule (with optional 2 additional local days).
- Comfortable performing physical labor daily.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret job plans and maps.
- Must be able or willing to learn how to run necessary equipment.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in underground utility or fiber installation.
- Experience with subsite utility locators or similar tools.
- Familiarity with GIS mapping or fiber planning software.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour (Based on Experience) Per diem reimbursement
