Full Stack Developer Job Description

DeepWalk is a fast-growing VC-backed startup that simplifies sidewalk ADA Transition Plans for public works departments. Our software transforms 3D models of sidewalks into deliverables that help solve the logistical, planning, and engineering challenges that prevent accessible design.

Role Description

DeepWalk is seeking a Full Stack Developer for a full-time hybrid role (2-3 days a week in-office). We’re looking for someone who can create practical, performant interfaces for our React internal tooling and take responsibility for end-to-end feature development for our web application, from UI to backend API implementation. You’ll work closely with our operations team and other full-stack developers to develop innovative solutions for project and data management.

Key Responsibilities

Here Are Some Impactful Projects You May Work On

Internal Onboarding Tooling

  • Develop tools that streamline and automate our internal onboarding processes.
  • Ensure new projects and team members can get started quickly and efficiently.

Scaling Our Project Management System

  • Refactor internal project management tools to handle a 10x increase in sidewalk data (from 1,000 miles processed to 10,000 miles).
  • Improve efficiency, scalability, and data handling.

Enhancing Map-Based Tools

  • Develop a region-based processing system that segments projects into standard areas.
  • Optimize data analysis and quality control (QA) processes.

Improving Our Data Annotation Software

  • Integrate AI-assisted annotation to speed up and improve manual data labeling.
  • Add support for First-Person View (FPV) images and videos to enhance sidewalk inspections.

Building Data Insights & Metrics

  • Develop a tracking system for key performance metrics within our custom annotation pipeline.

Ownership of Internal Tooling Webpage

  • Take full responsibility for our internal tooling platform.
  • Maintain and expand its functionality over time.

Who We're Looking For

We’re seeking a developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving real-world infrastructure challenges through software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience developing data-intensive web applications using TypeScript and React.
  • 1 years of experience building and integrating RESTful APIs (Node.js/Express preferred).
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and front-end web technologies.
  • High-level understanding of database design and ability to write SQL queries, with or without ORMs.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and storage solutions (AWS preferred).
  • A collaborative team player with strong communication skills.

Bonus Points For Experience With

  • GIS & mapping interfaces (e.g., Mapbox, Leaflet, ArcGIS).
  • HTML5 canvas libraries (e.g., Fabric.js or similar).
  • Python for backend automation or data processing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Equity: 0.15% - 0.25%
  • Health Insurance
  • Annual Performance Bonus

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you're excited about this role but don’t meet every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.
