What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Day Camp Jobs - Teachers - Group Leader position at Deer Mountain Day Camp?
If you are a teacher, school psychologist, social worker, experienced coach or experience camp professional who is looking to build upon your administrative and managerial skills and have the opportunity to work with children outside of a school setting, then we want to speak with you about a position on our Division Leader Team.
Division Leaders:
- Oversee a specific age group of campers (typically around 45 campers).
- Manage a team of 6 to 8 counselors, providing guidance, support and feedback.
- Circulate from group to group, getting to know their campers, managing and supporting the counselor staff and communicating as needed with the teachers who lead our activities.
- Shape the camp experience by creating a fun, sometimes wacky, always kind and inclusive culture within the division.
- Communicate with parents consistently throughout the summer, sharing information, gathering feedback and proactively address any concerns.

Age Groups:
Deer Mountain services campers ranging in age from 3 to 15. We have are looking for people to lead and support our:
- Nursery/Early Childhood program (campers who are 3 & 4 years Old)
- Later elementary grades (Entering 5th & 6th Grades)
Camp Dates:
- 2025 Camp Dates: Monday, June 30th to Thursday, August 21st
- Monday - Friday Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Daily Lunch and Snacks provided
- Pre-camp training required
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degrees ideally in Education, Psychology or Social Work. Masters experience a plus.
- Minimum 2 years experience working with children in a camp or educational setting.
- Camp experience preferred.
- Experience organizing large groups of children in a classroom or recreational setting.

Deer Mountain Day Camp is located in Pomona, NY at the base of the Ramapo Mountains. We are a town away from Woodcliff Lake, Mahwah, Montvale and Suffern and 25 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. We serve campers ranging in age from 3 to 15 who come from Rockland, Bergen, Orange and Westchester Counties and New York City.
