What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tennis Instructor position at Deer Mountain Day Camp?
ONE LOCATION: Pomona, NY (Rockland County)
Deer Mountain Day Camp is looking for an experienced tennis professional with a strong background working with juniors to lead its tennis program for its 2025 summer season. This is a great opportunity to work in the NY Metro area over the summer. Our tennis facility features 7 hard courts. We implement the USTA’s 10 and under tennis program and offer week long mini-tennis clinics for older campers who are interested in spending more time on the courts.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct and coach students in tennis techniques and strategies, ensuring a thorough understanding of the game.
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to various skill levels, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their performance.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during lessons, and maintain a safe playing environment.
- Collaborate with other instructors to organize events and tournaments, promoting engagement and teamwork among participants.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years teaching experience.
- Experience with and ability to structure and implement 10 and under tennis lessons over multiple courts.
- Fun, kind, caring and motivating personality.
- Willingness to collaborate and participate in other camp events.
Camp Dates:
- 2025 Camp Season: June 30th - August 21st
- Closed for the 4th of July
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Attend all pre-season staff trainings (on select days in June 2025)

Deer Mountain Day Camp is one of the first established and most respected day camps in the Tri-State area. Founded in 1956, Deer Mountain sits on 25 beautiful mountainside acres surrounding our spring-fed lake. Our camp program serves campers ranging in age from 3 to 15.
