Job Overview
The Camp Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the Center's buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for guests. This role involves performing routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the facilities as well as addressing any safety or operational issues that arise. The caretaker plays a vital role in ensuring the Center is always clean, functional, and ready for use.
Duties
- Hospitality Services: welcome customers; ensure readiness of accommodations; coordinate check-in and check-out with customers; monitor guests' needs; be a point of contact with renters; address issues or concerns that arise; etc.
- Grounds Maintenance: monitor buildings and grounds conditions; ensure customers' safety including being aware of uninvited visitors; maintain roads and walkways; verify all inside and outside lights are working; manage upkeep of trees, grass, and leaves; etc.
- Facilities Maintenance: ensure customer readiness of buildings; maintain systems such as water supply, septic, electrical, natural gas distribution; maintain swimming pool; service, including winterizing, buildings and appliances as well as equipment and tools; etc.
- Facilities Credentialing and Licensing Requirements: ensure compliance with government regulations and requirements; maintain up-to-date certifications, licenses, and inspections; obtain Serv-Safe certification and pesticide/chemical applicator's license; ensure proper posting of certificates and licenses; etc.
- Facilities Readiness: ensure grounds are always ready for tours of potential customers; maintain inventory levels of supplies; maintain cleaning equipment for customer usage; monitor for the presence of rodents and insects as well as odors; follow-up on issues reported by customers; organize an annual deep cleaning of buildings and grounds; etc.
- Office Management: process and distribute mail; provide record of receipts and expenses; facilitate licensing and permit retention; foster good business relationships; etc.
Qualifications
- Willingness to live onsite
- Capability to engage effectively with a 9-member Board of Directors
- Proven experience in maintenance, facility management, or a related field
- Basic skills in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and landscaping
- Ability to operate maintenance tools, vehicles, and equipment safely
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call emergencies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a camp, retreat center, or similar environment
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, and maintenance-related skills

The position also provides the privilege of living in a natural sanctuary located on seventy-six acres of sacred space amongst tall oak trees. It is located in beautiful and historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Adjacent to the property is Aquetong Spring Park, a 48-acre park with walking trails, a waterfall, and a historic limestone spring.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
