Deer Pond Auto is hiring! We're looking for a talented Mass State Vehicle Inspector to join our team.
The Massachusetts State Vehicle Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of vehicles operating within the state. As a qualified and licensed inspector, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections on various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, and buses. Through meticulous examination of vehicle components, systems, and documentation, you will determine their roadworthiness according to the established guidelines and regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and proactive thinking to maintain the highest standards of safety on Massachusetts roads.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough and accurate inspections of vehicles, including visual inspections and performance tests, to ensure compliance with Massachusetts vehicle safety standards.
- Inspect all safety-related components, such as brakes, steering, suspension, tires, lighting, mirrors, windows, windshield wipers, exhaust systems, and vehicle's structural integrity.
- Review vehicle registration documents, insurance certificates, and relevant paperwork to verify compliance with state regulations.
- Utilize inspection equipment, such as emission analyzers, diagnostic tools, and other specialized equipment, to perform comprehensive inspections
- Communicate inspection findings and recommendations to vehicle owners or operators, educating them about necessary repairs or maintenance to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Issue inspection stickers or certificates to vehicles that pass all necessary requirements, indicating their roadworthiness.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections performed, including vehicle information, inspection results, and any required repairs or re-inspections.
- Stay updated on changes in vehicle safety regulations, attending training sessions and workshops as required to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address operational issues, improve inspection processes, and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a Massachusetts State Vehicle Inspector License program.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- In-depth knowledge of Massachusetts vehicle safety regulations and inspection procedures.
- Proficient understanding of vehicle mechanics, systems, and components.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively communicate inspection findings and recommendations to vehicle owners.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy equipment and bending or reaching into vehicles during inspections.
- Familiarity with inspection equipment and tools.
- Willingness to continuously update knowledge and skills through training and professional development.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
