Position Summary
We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Group Account Director (GAD) to lead multiple healthcare communications/advertising accounts, manage client relationships, and drive business growth. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of HCP and/or DTC marketing, a firm grasp of pharma regulatory processes (MLR reviews), up-to-date with the latest industry trends, and a proven ability to oversee large-scale, integrated marketing campaigns across a variety of channels.
As a GAD, you will serve as a senior leader within the agency, responsible for shaping brand strategy, ensuring client satisfaction, and driving account profitability. You will also mentor and develop high-performing account teams while identifying new opportunities to expand client engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Account Leadership
- Serve as the senior client partner, leading strategic discussions and fostering trusted relationships
- Develop and oversee the execution of brand strategies, ensuring alignment with client objectives and market trends
- Serve as a trusted resource, providing reliable and accurate information to both clients and internal teams
- Lead HCP and/or DTC marketing initiatives, overseeing campaign development across multiple channels
- Identify and drive organic growth opportunities, while supporting new business development efforts
- Possess a deep understanding of the assigned category and its potential parallels with other therapeutic areas
Strategic & Creative Leadership
- Collaborate with creative, medical, strategy, and media teams to develop compelling and compliant campaigns
- Guide market research, competitive intelligence, and strategic insights to inform brand positioning
- Fully understand various marketing channels and their applications. Provide strategic guidance on how and when to leverage these channels to achieve brand objectives effectively
- Oversee the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review process, ensuring all marketing materials meet compliance standards
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Lead account planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting, ensuring profitability and operational efficiency
- Manage resource allocation, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality execution
- Provide mentorship and leadership to Account Directors, Group Account Supervisors, and junior team members, fostering professional growth
Qualifications & Experience
- 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical advertising (agency experience required).
- Strong HCP and/or DTC marketing expertise, with a deep understanding of pharma regulations, MLR processes, and multichannel marketing
- Demonstrated ability to lead large accounts, drive strategic growth, and manage high-level client relationships. A strong, professional demeanor that instills confidence and creates comfort for both internal teams and clients during interactions
- Proven success in financial management, account profitability, and business development.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Bachelor’s degree (Advanced degree a plus)
