We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to join our medical records department. This role is responsible for the secure, timely, and compliant handling of patient health information, while delivering exceptional service to patients, providers, and third-party requesters.
The ideal candidate has experience managing confidential health records, a strong understanding of HIPAA and healthcare privacy regulations, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. A minimum of 2 years of experience in Health Information Management or Release of Information is required.
Selected Responsibilities:
- Process and validate medical record requests in compliance with HIPAA and state/federal regulations
- Respond to subpoenas, court orders, and high-priority requests
- Communicate with internal teams, patients, and third parties via phone and email
- Perform quality checks and ensure proper documentation and billing
- Digitize and maintain accurate electronic records
- Assist with payments and general inquiries

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA compliance.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in EMR systems (EPIC strongly preferred) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Effective time management and workload prioritization.
- Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
