Job Summary
The THIS IS NOT EXISTING COMPANY BUT TEST JOB Senior Database Administrator is responsible for administrating and monitoring enterprise class database technologies. This individual will be responsible for maintaining existing databases, adding new databases, troubleshoot and fix PROD and non-PROD issues, support internal and external projects.
The Senior Database Administrator works as a member of the Database Administration team and is charged to understand the goals/objectives of that team and how it supports those of the Enterprise Architecture and Shared Services Technology division.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release/deployment activities during and after business hours.
- Implement approved database configuration changes.
- Perform data restoration and recover activities as needed.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Participate in on-call rotations.
- Must be available for remote call-out support and to perform remote system maintenance when needed after normal business hours.
- Perform database administration maintenance activities while maintaining high database system availability and reliability for business applications.
- Manage databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Document and update processes as needed.
- Collaborate with IT teams, project teams, and institutional leadership teams in root problem analysis, solution identification, implementation, and delivery activities.
- Collaborate with IT teams and internal and external customers to understand project requirements and recommend sustainable solutions that meet defined business needs.
- Communicate clearly to technical and non-technical users.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or combination of education and experience
- At least 5 years of experience as a DB2 DBA
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude and solutions-oriented thinking
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
