The Washington office of Baker Botts L.L.P. is seeking an undergraduate student to intern on a full-time temporary basis in the Litigation department. A 4-week minimum commitment is required. The intern, under the supervision of our Litigation Partners, will support and provide assistance with a wide range of assignments in their department. The intern must be flexible to work wherever needed.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Duties will vary based on departmental assignments and needs.
- These may include, but are not limited to, monitoring and summarizing agency agenda meetings, researching and drafting client development-type papers.
- Project assignments may also include data entry in various firm systems.
- Interns will assist with other tasks, duties and projects as assigned by our Litigation Partners.
Qualifications
- Some college is required. Interest in studying/pursuing law in the future is a plus.
- Duties will vary based on departmental assignments and needs.
- These may include, but are not limited to, monitoring and summarizing agency agenda meetings, researching and drafting client development-type papers.
- Project assignments may also include data entry in various firm systems.
- Interns will assist with other tasks, duties and projects as assigned by department manager.
- Must be able to work in a multi-task environment using planning and prioritization skills to manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work with a team lead to effectively and successfully complete approved projects.
Extent of Contact (Within and outside the Firm)
This position requires contact with individuals within the firm as follows:
- Extensive daily in office and online contact with lawyers, staff and colleagues within the Litigation Department.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to work at a computer for considerable periods of time.
- Position requires extensive telephone/computer use.
Working Condition and Environment
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Must be able to perform essential duties of the position with time constraints and frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work well in a high-pressure environment.
The hourly rate for this position in Washington D.C. is $20.00.
