What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Solutions Architect position at Default?
About Us
Default is a fast-growing, NYC-based software company building the all-in-one revenue growth platform for B2B companies to grow better, faster, and cheaper. We had an incredible year in 2024, growing revenue and customer count by 10x.
Founded in 2021, Default powers the go-to-market workflows for companies of all sizes, from seed-stage startups to growth-stage enterprises. Default's investors include Craft Ventures, 8VC, Jack Altman (CEO of Lattice), BoxGroup, and Menlo Ventures, as well as dozens of angel investors who were founders or executives of leading companies like Notion, Airtable, Ramp, Figma, and many more.
About The Role
Default is a compound startup. If you’re not familiar with this terminology, compound startups are big, ambitious bets on opportunities that span multiple point-solutions and business processes. In our case, we’re building around the customer lifecycle, starting by building a suite of tightly integrated products around the inbound sales funnel: forms, workflows, process automation, meeting scheduling, and email sequencing.
We're hiring a Founding Solutions Architect to help us 10x our growth again in 2025. We're looking for a technically-savvy professional who can drive customer success in our fast-paced environment. As the Founding Solutions Architect, you'll be on the front lines of customer success and value delivery, helping our mid-market and enterprise customers achieve their goals through technical expertise and platform mastery. You'll work with some of the fastest-growing companies in the world, delivering tailored workflow solutions while contributing to product improvements. This is a customer-facing role, so you can expect to spend a few hours per day meeting with customers to better understand their business systems and growth roadmaps and working with them to implement our product in a way that is best suited to meet these needs.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and own customer onboarding and implementation for mid-market and enterprise segments, demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Design and implement high-performance revenue workflow solutions which may include CRM integration, email sequencing tool integrations, notifications via Slack, and more.
- Become a Default product expert. You should know the ins and outs of our product, its use cases, and how customers can get more value out of using it.
- Understand the business objectives of your customers, map them to the value our products enable, and help customers implement our products in ways that meet their objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teammates to move deals forward and ensure customer success.
- Run tight POCs based on business success criteria.
- Provide technical guidance and support through shared customer Slack channels.
- Shape product improvements and priorities based on customer feedback.
Requirements
- 3 years of relevant experience (5 years preferred).
- Strong expertise in dealing with third-party APIs, integrations, and workflow optimization.
- Technical proficiency in SQL and/or Javascript.
- Prior experience and success as a Solutions Engineer or technical CSM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly with customers.
- Organizational skills and strong attention to detail — you probably document everything.
- Passion for software technology and a customer-first mindset.
- Prior experience working with iPaaS tools like Merge, Tray.io, Workato, or Zapier.
- Prior experience working with Salesforce and HubSpot.
Bonus Skills & Attributes
- Basic understanding of the solutions that comprise our market is a plus.
- You’re excited to pioneer the implementation playbook versus execute a prescribed one.
- You’re adamant about playing a key role in an early-stage startup.
- Based in NYC (bonus)
Reasons to Apply
- Strong product-market fit and growth (over 20% MoM).
- Repeatably winning renewals (and new business) against competitors (over 90% of the time).

- You’ll be implementing a winning product that customers love.
- We’re backed by incredible, supportive investors (Craft Ventures, Menlo, BoxGroup, 8VC, Jack Altman).
