Summary
DAS Services is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our team.
Responsibilities
- The Technical Writer works with Engineers, Analysts, and SMEs to collect and organize information required for preparation of a broad range of technical reports, correspondence, and presentations.
- Edits and proofreads technical information for use in documents and briefings.
- Ensures technical reports, correspondence, and briefings use clear, concise, and well-organized language in accordance with DoD guidelines.
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of message; explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language.
- Write technical direction on product announcements, marketing brochures, advertisements, and technical specifications; edit articles for industry publication; and format documentation to ensure consistency within the program office.
- On a daily basis the technical writer will assist in the development of briefings, papers, schedules, etc. to provide the government customer a detailed understanding of status, plans and technical approaches to various systems.
- The technical writer will interface directly with the government and contractor team engineers and management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Active Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of related experience, preferably in the DoD or Defense industry
- The Technical Writer must have extensive experience with Army correspondence (AR 25-50) Preparing and Managing Correspondence) and technical writing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Very strong / above average / attention to detail
- Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Powerpoint and Outlook
Desired Skills
- Ability to develop final presentations, report graphics, and animations or video
- Experience with joint staff, joint programs, and interfacing with DoD leadership
- Experience supporting engineering programs and Technical Program Managers
