Accounts Payable Payroll Specialist
Defense and Government Solutions (DGS) is seeking a meticulous and organized Accounts Payable Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts payable, payroll processing, and general accounting principles. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounts payable functions, processing payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES :
Accounts Payable :
Process vendor invoices and ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Review and verify payment requests, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
Maintain an organized filing system for accounts payable records.
Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
Payroll Processing :
Process payroll for employees in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Prepare and maintain payroll records, including deductions, taxes, and benefits.
Review and verify timecards and employee data for accuracy.
Coordinate with HR and benefits departments to ensure that payroll data is up to date.
Prepare payroll reports for management and ensure proper tax filings.
Assist with year-end payroll processing, including W-2 and other tax-related forms.
Compliance & Reporting :
Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with the preparation of financial reports as required by management.
Stay current with changes in payroll tax laws and ensure compliance.
Communication & Support :
Provide excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries.
Work closely with vendors, employees, and management to resolve any accounts payable or payroll-related issues.
Assist with audits as needed.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or related field(or equivalent experience)
Minimum 4 years of experience in accounts payable and payroll processing.
Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and accounting principles.
Proficiency with MS Excel, accounting software and ADP payroll system.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certification in payroll processing (e.g., CPP – Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.
Experience with MS Business Central ERP system.
Familiarity with data privacy and confidentiality practices related to payroll information.
