Supervisory Nurse (Clinical/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) GS-12

Overview

This position is located within the Womack Army Medical Center located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. As Head Nurse working in the Department of Nursing, the incumbent will provide, direct, and evaluate the delivery and outcome of nursing care.

Womack is located in Fayetteville, Fort Liberty which  is 2 hours from the beach and 5 hours from the Appalachian Mountains with easy access to I-95 and all points north and south. Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Clinical/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse you will:

• Performs a variety of supervisory, administrative, and clinical duties as the Supervisor (Head Nurse) of the NICU
• Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work
• Develops staff in effective interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills
• Evaluates nursing interventions based on patient's response and revises nursing care plan accordingly.
• Develop nursing care assignments to various skill levels of professional and nonprofessional personnel.
• Supervise nursing staff, managed shift assignments, and conducted performance evaluations.
• Lead training programs, ensuring cross-training and neonatal education for staff.
• Contribute to policy development and revisions, focusing on quality and infection control.
• Complete reports and maintain records to ensure compliance and efficient neonatal care.
• Monitors and oversees staff performance to assure work is accomplished in a timely manner
• Reviews and assists in the revision of nursing care plans as needed.
• Provide advanced NICU care, administering treatments and managing neonatal equipment.

Qualifications

US Citizenship required

A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure

Examination.

One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes: evaluating patient conditions and creating tailored nursing care plans to address individual needs. Providing critical care to severely ill patients and ensuring effective nursing support to meet care requirements.
