Physician Assistant (Orthopedic) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO
Fort Leonard Wood is a U.S. Army installation that trains and educates nearly 90 thousand troops a year.
The fort provides comprehensive medical care to its personnel and their families through the orthopedic clinic.
The ideal candidate will serve as a mid-level provider in the Orthopedic Clinic and perform first assist duties in the operating room.
Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive skilled care to patients seeking orthopedic treatment in an outpatient clinic.
The incumbent uses critical judgment to perform assessments, formulate diagnoses, and prescribe treatments for acute and chronic illnesses.
The PA works independently to evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with physicians to revise and implement plans.
The incumbent also teaches patients and family members about health maintenance and disease prevention.
The physician assistant evaluates servicemembers for retention and determines physical limitations.
Requirements
To qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below.
Basic Requirements: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program accredited by ARC-PA or its predecessors.
Certification: Successful completion of the NCCPA examination and maintaining certified status through Continuing Medical Education and re-certification.
Licensure: Current, active license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience: A minimum of one full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant.
