Summary This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Responsibilities Serves as a Strategic Analyst within the Strategic Trends Office. As a STRATEGIC ANALYST at the GS-0301-13 / 14 some of your typical work assignments may include : Responsible for research, analysis, strategy development, written products, and oral presentations regarding future threat trends within a 5-10 year range covering geopolitical, cultural, and technological aspects of the design, development, deployment, and use of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) / CBRN materials. Monitors strategic movements in foreign WMD programs and global S&T developments to correlate to US and Allied mitigation / defense efforts. Reports on risk and recommended activities or strategies to minimize impacts to the United States and its global partners. Generates timely, credible, and actionable insights to enable and guide warfighter understanding of WMD and improvised threats across the range of military operations. Identifies factors in the operational environment affecting emerging threats as well as the commensurate challenges and opportunities for the Agency, warfighter, and Department. Communicates threat assessments within the Agency and across the Department of Defense. Supports the Agency, warfighter, and DoD by characterizing the emerging strategic and operational threat environment and informs the development of strategy, plans, requirements, and guidance. Supports internal research program focused on strategic dialogues, studies, and experiential learning exercises. Assists in hosting workshops, conferences, and symposiums for discussion / examination of emerging threats and future challenges on the battlefield. Assesses significance and quality of events to ensure continual improvement and adherence to program objectives and goals. Develops, forecasts, and monitors budget to ensure adherence to policy, guidance, and law. Supports strategy to budget to outcome assessments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications : One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service : Expert knowledge, skill, and ability in organizing and conducting CWMD-focused analysis; Experience presenting follow-on deliverables such as analytical reports, occasional papers, vignettes / scenarios, executive summaries, and executive briefings to senior leadership and government officials; Expert knowledge of strategic analysis using classified and unclassified information in order to provide complete assessments of potential future trends affecting the development and use of WMD, and other emerging technologies, and; Experience developing an / or supporting Table-Top Exercises (TTXs) focused on future battlefield challenges. You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications : One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service : Expert knowledge, skill, and ability in organizing, managing, and facilitating CWMD-focused analysis; Experience developing and presenting follow-on deliverables such as analytical reports, occasional papers, vignettes / scenarios, executive summaries, and executive briefings to senior leadership and government officials; Expert knowledge of strategic analysis using classified and unclassified information in order to provide complete assessments of potential future trends affecting the development and use of WMD, and other emerging technologies; Experience developing Table-Top Exercises (TTXs) focused on future battlefield challenges, and; Experience developing TTX game mechanics, scenarios, and supporting materials to generate actionable recommendations and enhance understanding of complex concepts and approaches to mitigate potential future threats.
