Defiance College, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) institution and member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in athletic health care management and medical coverage for NAIA sponsored intercollegiate athletic teams and events at Defiance College.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: coverage of athletic training room open treatment times, practices, games, and events, with travel opportunities available; assisting in daily ATR operations, including injury evaluation, emergency treatment, and rehabilitation; recordkeeping and documentation; work with local medical providers and team physicians to coordinate referrals for injuries; and providing counseling and education to student athletes. As seen with many college positions as of late, we have moved to more of a "care" model opposed to "coverage", to better support staff size and realistic workloads for our athletic training staff.
Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (master’s preferred), have current BOC certification, and be licensed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio OT/PT/AT Board. Previous athletic training experience in a higher education environment is preferred, but not required. While this is an entry level position, experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
This full-time, 12-month position will require work on weekends and holidays as needed. Defiance College Athletics and the current athletic training staff have taken steps to make this position competitive in the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics by focusing on workload, scheduled time off, and creating a work environment that is professionally stimulating, supportive, and conducive to having work-life balance.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Interested individuals should apply through the link above for Nationwide Children's Hospital.
