What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Body Technician position at DeForest Collision Repair, Inc?
We are looking to hire an experienced, highly productive Auto Body Technician to join our team. We are an independently owned collision repair shop that has served our growing community for more than 50 years. As an Auto Body Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicles to their pre-accident condition. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Follow shop policies and procedures as well as safety and environmental regulations
- Read and comprehend work orders and information
- Remove damaged panels and parts, and repair or replace as necessary
- Use power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs
- Straighten bent frames and align vehicle components
- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, priming and masking
- Assist estimators with identifying parts that may need replacing
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow
- Produce high-quality work
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Auto Body Technician or similar role
- Strong knowledge of auto body repair techniques and tools
- Skilled in sheet metal and aluminum repair techniques
- Familiarity with automotive repair processes and industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills
- Valid driver's license
