What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spray Painter position at Deister Machine Company?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Adhere to all ISO requirements as stated in the Management Systems Procedures Manual.
- Safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection, must be worn at all times.
- Respirator and painting suit must be worn at all times while painting.
- Air supplied helmet and suit must be worn while painting products that require such.
- All painting to be done inside of booth, with doors closed, and visitors exited.
- Assists others in loading and unloading of trucks using fork trucks and/or hoists.
- Cleans grease and dirt from product, and removes all welding berries before painting.
- Applies masking tape, paer, or other media, over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
- Fills cavities and dents with putty, or equivalent, and sands accordingly, to attain smooth surface.
- Selects and mixes liquid coating to produce desired color or consistency.
- Selects and mixes appropriate portions of hardener, etc for epoxy type formulas to obtain proper hardness and consistency.
- Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to airhose.
- Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
- Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
- Lifts, and/or turns parts to coat parts evenly on all surfaces.
- Places appropriately rated horses under product before working or walking underneath.
- Records daily quantities of all products used.
- Cleans spraying equipment, brushes, and work areas at the end of each shift.
- Removes rust from metal with wire brush, or steel wool.
- Changes filters in booth, and handles and disposes properly as required.
