What your day will look like :
Under supervision, you will be involved in the entire educational day of children. This will include :
- Assisting in the learning activities of children who have multiple cognitive, behavior, emotional and medical abilities.
- Provide various clerical and instructional support for the instructional teacher.
- Assisting in the individual or small group instruction of students on individualized goals.
- Ensure that the individual student performance levels, needs and abilities are supported.
- Assist students off the bus and into the building, and out of the building and on the bus.
- Assist students as they learn how to serve themselves at lunch and assist with feeding.
- Assist students in learning toileting, which may include assisting in the restroom, changing diapers, and assisting with other medical needs.
- Lifting students into and out of wheelchairs.
- Assist in behavior management of students and maintaining a safe atmosphere for students in your care.
- Receive Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training.
- Collaborate with teachers and other paraprofessionals in the applied skills classrooms.
- This position will be 40 hours per week.
