What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Designer position at Dekker?
Dekker is seeking interior designers with at least 3 years of experience in a commercial office to collaborate in a team-oriented environment on highly creative designs for multiple projects. As passionate and self-driven team members at Dekker, candidates would play a key role in creating inspired interiors backed by the support of a firm that has been a staple in the industry for over 65 years.
Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively engage in project work with responsibilities as assigned
- Plan and develop design aspects of assigned projects, including investigation, evaluation, technical aspects, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client’s needs
- Prepare studies, reports, and presentations and effectively communicate design ideas and progression with clients
- Plan diagrams/layouts during schematic design, demonstrating ability to arrange a unified design
- Prepare scaled drawings and contract documents for building contractors using Revit
- Review consultant drawings for accuracy and coordination
- Provide onsite observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans
- Prepare furniture packages and specifications
- Complete tasks essential for proficiency in interior design principles as outlined by the Council for Interior Design Qualification with direction
- Identify and communicate project progress, accomplishments, challenges, and support needed to complete responsibilities
- Carry out and delegate workflows and task assignments to project teams, including outside consultants, to meet project requirements
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced design team members
Qualifications
- This is a hybrid work environment with 3 days onsite required. Applicants must live in the Phoenix AZ, Albuquerque NM or El Paso TX area
- 3 Years of Commercial Interior Design experience
- Bachelors Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
- Proficiency with Revit in a professional commercial setting
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Foundational knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop ideal
- Basic knowledge of Enscape rendering software ideal
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and consultation skills
