DEKRA North America’s compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,500 annually in our lowest geographic market up to $128,200 annually in our highest geographic market. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You’ll Do:
- Supervise a multidisciplinary team to achieve project milestones and exceed customer expectations.
- Plan and coordinate functional safety assessment and testing activities.
- Perform complex functional safety assessments and testing following standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or other relevant standards.
- Optimize testing processes for efficiency, quality, and resource utilization.
- Oversee the creation of detailed evaluation reports aligned with client milestones and applicable standards.
- Act as the main contact for clients, quality, and certification bodies regarding safety testing and assessments.
- Deliver and conduct internal and external workshops and training in the field of Functional Safety and Security.
- Coordinate technical efforts between Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, and AI domains.
- Support the sales team with product/project inputs (e.g. technical and quote estimates)
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in functional safety and ensure the company aligns with industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in system/software/hardware design and development.
- Minimum 5 years of functional safety implementation in automotive ECU development.
- Deep knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalents).
- Able to guide our team through the ISO certification process and achieve the certification completion on time.
- Experience with risk analysis, FMEDA, FTA, and other safety assessment methods.
- Hands-on experience with testing tools, automation frameworks, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems.
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, etc.).
- Knowledge of Linux-based OS and in-depth knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Bash. C/C is a plus.
- ASPICE knowledge or ASPICE provisional assessor status preferred.
- Professional functional safety engineer certification (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508) preferred.
- International working experience with global customers preferred.
- Understanding of embedded systems and software development lifecycles.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Leadership and experience with managing teams.
- Project and task coordination skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to speak German is a plus
- Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion.
- Ability to lift 25-50lbs (luggage)
